Marquetry is the art of creating pictures by using small pieces of veneer (1mm thick) to make up a picture, and then either mounting the finished piece on a board as a picture or applying it to a piece of furniture as decoration.
The crest of my family name worked in 10 veneers and measuring 8 inches by 10 inches. This one makes an interesting carving project too.
Cottage is 12 inches by 13 inches and was done using 29 different veneers
The Indian Canoe picture is 20 inches by 15 inches and uses 19 different veneers.
This Escher style marquetry picture is 10 inches square and contains 4 different types of veneer. It is mounted as a picture on 12mm MDF.
